This late C.E. Kempe window had been very badly vandalised. Fortunately with the aid of photographs from the Parish archive and the collection of saved broken fragments the window was restored.
The loss of painted detail is a common problem in some historic glass. In this example we have repainted the lost detail on on clear 1mm glass and placed it over the orginal. This provides a perminent solution without effecting the original glass.
After successive repair much of the design in this Clayton & Bell window had been lost. The window was completely removed and the glass reordered to reveal original window.
Where possible we reaserch and return to original sources to aid our restorations, such this original Saunders/Burgess cartoon found in the University of Cork's achive and used as reference to restore the same severely damaged stained glass.
